About Me:
I joined Zaadz a while ago but never had any motivation to continue an active part in it. I am a step-cousin-in-law to HighMountainWind, so she is actually responsible for getting me interested in this community again.
My life at the moment is fairly mundane: Mostly school, work, school, work, a little time with the wife, pet the cat, school, work, school, work… and the cycle goes on. I may be married to the most wonderful woman I've ever known, but we hardly get to spend any time together. I am working my tail off in an underpaying job that I despise just so we can pay the bills and feed our two furball cats. Through all of that, I know it's worth it… or rather it had better be! Hope in the future keeps us going, determination is slowly getting us there.
Above all else, I am an artist. I love to draw, paint, and sculpt. I find it very therapeutic. Often, I feel as if the only way that I can release an emotion is to release it to paper, canvas or clay. I have a new website located at http://www.chimericfire.com It's full of my artwork and I'm also going ot use it as a blog and a dream diary.
I am currently attending the Art Institute Online in an attempt to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Game Art & Design. It is actually through game design that I intend to change the world. I see entertainment media as a natural progression from books to radio, movies, television, then games. Due to the immersiveness of games, they have the great ability to hold greater influence over their audience. There are two aspects to my world-changing strategy: Firstly there’s stealth education, teach people while they play in a way that isn’t overtly educational; this way people learn more than just hand-eye coordination while playing games. Secondly, there’s inspiration. Just as StarWars influenced nations into harboring a fervent desire to explore outer space, I believe games (with the right story) can influence future generations to emulate such a world, seek to produce their technologies, or hold their philosophies. In Canada, there is supposedly a checkbox for “Jedi” in the religion section of the Census due to the high number of people who wrote it in under “other”. If movies can be this powerful, games can be that much more powerful.
Beyond that, I am into all sorts of things. I have a lot of fun programming little java robots in a game called RoboCode: http://robocode.sourceforge.net/
This game is addictive and fun, I’ve got a bot called Chimera that is somewhat competitive. I’m always tinkering with it during my spare time.
I am obsessed with number sequences and have even created my own number sequences based off of the Fibonacci Sequence… which I then made into an audio representation of the sequence… which could be considered music. See: http://fibonacci.fateback.com
There is much more… but this page would quickly get more than a little unruly, I think I’ll leave it at that for now.
